At the beginning of a project, it is common to begin planning with questions like, "How long should I expect this to take?" The Transfer Migration Planner allows you to outline the basic assumptions of any integration, primarily around the initial content copy at the beginning of a migration or first synchronization. It uses basic assumptions to begin visualization of the process, without requiring any setup of connections or jobs. You can access the Transfer Migration Planner from the Jobs menu tab options.

Entering values in the Assumptions area to plot a timeline that estimate the completion time frames for your transfer. Change the values and select Reset to try other combinations of values. The timeline assumes a start date of today and uses the values in the Assumptions section to model the content transfer. Hovering over the Total bytes transferred or Daily transfer rate lines shows a tooltip that displays more information. Please read the Transfer Migration planner assumptions notes below to understand various factors that will impact your transfer so you can plan your migration properly.

The Total size of data to process may not be completely understood, particularly when it comes to finding and transferring valuable content.  At this stage, an estimate is fine to aid in planning.  The default value is 50TB, but you should change this to match your scenario.  As your project evolves, you can refine your knowledge by using a simulation job to analyze your content.

The Daily transfer rate will depend on many factors.  The rate used here is an estimate for planning purposes only.  The default value is 5TB.  Achieving consistently high transfer rates require investments in planning, hardware, configuration, and tuning. If you are running the DryvIQ Platform in the DryvIQ Cloud, DryvIQ handles this for you.
