The Job type defines the kind of job and the actions the job will perform with the content.  There are four job types available: basic transfer, folder mapping, user account mapping, and network home drive mapping. A basic transfer job is the only job that moves content. The other job types (also referred to as convention jobs), create a parent job that automatically creates the necessary child jobs under it. These child jobs are the transfer jobs that move the content for the convention jobs. For more information about convention jobs, see Job Type | Convention Jobs.

This is also where you will specify the transfer direction, which determines how content is moved between the source and the destination. See Job Transfer Direction for more information.
