A policy is a set of rules assigned to a location that determines what content SkySync is looking for, how it should label the content when found, and what actions, if any, SkySync should take for the content. There are multiple components that make up a policy: tracking groups, assignment rules, and actions. This page provides a high-level overview to help you understand policies. To learn more about a specific element of a policy, refer to the Help Center page for that specific item.

Policy Element

Description

Tracking Groups

These are the label used to classify the content. Each tracking group is assigned a risk level. Once a file has been assigned to a tracking group, it is no longer eligible for tracking groups lower in priority on this policy.

Assignment Rules

Assignment rules are where you select the entity types you want to use to identify the content. You will build sets of logical statements that will be used to determine if the content belongs to the tracking group.

Actions

This determines the action SkySync should take once it identifies a file falls under one of the tracking groups.

Data Sources

This is the specific directory (location) within a connection that should be scanned using the policy.
