Overview
Document Types helps you understand the composition of your data to help you make decisions about what you need to do with the content.
Statistics
The top part of the page breaks down the content into known document types and unknown document types. The total file count that was classified and the percentage of the content the files make up is displayed for each category. It also displays the total number of number of unique document types identified. The statistics always display the information for all locations; the statistics are not affected by the location selections.
Locations
By default, the charts display information for all locations. If you want the charts to show information for specific locations, click Files across selected locations and select the locations you want to use to filter the information. Click Apply to update the charts to display information for just the selected locations. To view information for all locations again, click Files across all locations. The statistics at the top of the page always display the information for all locations and are not affected by the location selections made here.
Once the locations are set, click Files across selected locations if you need to review which locations are selected.
File Categories
This sections displays a chart that provides a visual representation of the content make up by category. By default, the chart shows the file count for each category, but you can select to view the total file size instead. The chart does not include unknown document types. You can include these document types by turning on the Show Unknown Types toggle.
The inner ring is made up of the main document categories. These directly correspond to the color-coded legend displayed on the left. The outer ring is the different document types included in the category. For example, The main category of General License is in the first ring. This category includes Passport and Drivers License, which are displayed in the second ring.
Filtering the Chart
You can select any category to have the chart only show the information for the selected category. If there are multiple document types under a category, you can expand the category to view the included document types. You can choose to view the entire category, which will include all document types in the category, or you can choose to view a specific document type under the category. You can reset the chart back to the default view by clicking in the center of the chart.
Viewing Files
The chart is interactive. Hovering on a segment will display a tooltip that shows the full document type name if it doesn’t fit on the segment. If you click a segment in the chart or click View Files, you will be taken to the Results page, and the results will be filtered based on the selected information.
Refreshing Content
The page does not automatically refresh to maintain any filtering being used to review the data. Instead, you can use the Refresh button to refresh the page when needed. Note that a refresh draws the File Categories chart again, and as a result, categories may be assigned a different color on the refresh.
Copying the Chart
The Copy option allows you to copy the chart to your computer’s clipboard. This allows you to paste the chart as an image into email messages, documents, etc. as needed.
Saving the Chart
The Save button allows you to save the chart as a PNG image file. The file will download to the folder specified as the default download location for your browser. Once downloaded, you can insert the image into documents or email messages as needed.
