Configuring Data Sources: Apply Metadata

If you select the Apply Metadata action for a policy, you must complete additional configuration when adding data sources that support metadata. For DryvIQ to apply metadata, you must specify the metadata field and value you want set. If you don’t complete the configuration, the data source scan won't run. The failure will be logged as an error in the policy's Activity report. It will identify that the failure was due to a missing configuration for a tracking group item.

1. Open the policy that contains the data source you need to configure.

2. Click the View link in the configuration notification (or navigate to the Data sources page within the policy).

3. Select Configure next to the data source you need to configure.

4. The configure actions modal appears. It displays all tracking groups that contain actions that require configuration.

5. Select Edit for the tracking group action you want to configure.
   
   

    

6. Additional fields display for the tracking group action.

7. The Metadata field will be a list or text field, depending on the platform and DryvIQ’s ability to identify the metadata fields.
   If DryvIQ has access to the metadata fields on the platform, the field will be a list. Select the metadata field from the list of available fields.
   
   

   
   If DryvIQ doesn’t have access to the metadata fields, the field will be a text field. Type the name of the field you want to update. If the metadata field doesn’t exist, DryvIQ will create it if the platform supports creating metadata fields.
   
   

    

8. In Value, enter the value to set for the metadata field.

9. Select Apply changes.

10. Select Done on the Configure actions modal.
